How Does the Webster Technique Work?

The Webster Technique has become very important in chiropractic pregnancy care. It has been known for helping to optimize physical function for both mother and baby for pregnancy and birth. By addressing the sacral subluxation and sacroiliac SI joint dysfunction with specific methods of adjusting the Webster technique can help balance the pelvis and its function By doing this it can help alleviate factors contributing to dystocia- having abnormal or difficult labor. Therefore helping to support a safer, smoother birth for mother and baby. It is used worldwide and has helped to contribute to smoother and safer births helping mother and baby.

Dystocia Can Stem from 3 Main Factors Related to the Mother's Body

1. Power

This refers to the strength and effectiveness of uterine contractions. Pelvis that are misaligned can interfere with the nervous system and the body's ability to have strong consistent contractions. The Webster Technique corrects sacral subluxations which enhances the mothers's ability to have efficient contractions and thus support the natural progression of labor.

2. Passage

The structure of the pelvis must allow enough space for the baby to move through during birth. Not having the pelvis aligned can add stress to the pelvic outlet, and sometimes creating a physical barrier for the mother to give birth. By making sure the pelvis is healthy and aligned it can help with improving space for the baby during delivery.

3. Passenger

The baby's position in the womb is influenced by the mother's pelvic alignment. If the mother has any misalignments it can create tension in the uterine ligaments, restricting movement for the baby. The Webster Technique helps release this tension, giving the baby more freedom to move around and encourages a head-down position for birth. By addressing the neuro-biomechanical factors that influence labor, the Webster Technique creates the physical conditions necessary for a more natural and efficient birth for mother and baby.
