Relationship Between Gut and Central Nervous System
I recently finished attending a nutrition seminar for continuing education, and I would like to share some new insights for managing chronic pain!
There is a bidirectional relationship between the gut and the central nervous system. Migraine headaches are associated with gastrointestinal disorders such as:
- Helicobacter Pylori (bacteria)
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Celiac Disease
Dietary Recommendations
- Gluten-free diet
- Prebiotic fiber
- increases beneficial gut flora
- Low glycemic diet
- Vitamin D3
- Omega 3's
- Probiotics
- Mediterranean diet
High calorie, sugar, and caffeine intake contribute to chronic musculoskeletal pain. Higher protein intake and energy-dense diets can decrease chronic lower back pain!
